Overview

With this 2009 launched model the lively, youthful Glashütte brand has created itself their new, very special flagship. For as successful as the model Tangente may be, and however much the Orion is the secret leader of the program in terms of elegance and style, here still has emerged an entirely new highlight of originality, which must surprise and amaze each watch lover with an eye for timeless beauty. The sophistication of the Zurich reveals itself perhaps not all at once, but that has always been so with future classics: they have an impact long afterwards and always ask for a new confrontation.

When looking for information about the occurrence of this watch creation, we are informed by Nomos, that it has arisen as the last work of the much too early died Zurich watches designer Hannes Wettstein. Connoisseurs know his name already for a long while, because he has already delivered exciting new interpretations of the concept of modern design with his models for the brand Ventura. The Zurich is not just "modern" though, but stands far beyond all such categories. All the watch classics of watchmaking history will have to compete against her. So this is nothing less than the last legacy of a man, who delivered his best in the consciousness that his lifetime would have vome to an end.

This is the only way to explain the density, accuracy and explosiveness of this watch, at which there is nothing boring or mundane and which radiates an infinite calm and harmony. The observer, who gets closer to its peculiarity, discovers charming details in abundance: wedge-shaped, inwardly depressed, finely finished and perfectly proportioned hour markers, faceted hands, slightly domed sapphire crystal, handy crown with domed jags. In the side view the whole sovereignty of the expansive lugs shows, which angulation harmonizes perfectly with the arm curves of the wearer. And then the movement: finely decorated Glashütte manufacture calibre Nomos Epsilon with automatic winding, made ​​mostly of brass, but with a galvanization in black gold, to which the bright weight segment of the rotor pleasantly contrasts.

The watch is available in four variants: with light, silvered dial as Zürich, with charcoal dial as Zürich Anthracite, or with blue or brown gold sunburst dial as Zürich Blaugold and Zürich Braungold. Additionally, the corresponding models with date display and Zürich world timer have been added. It has a sturdy strap made ​​of Shell Cordovan leather, a caseback with sapphire crystal, and it is waterproof to 3 atm.

So far, Nomos, in accordance with the identity of the brand, did not build luxury watches. Now one must first get used to it, that from now on this is not true any longer.
