• At the 125-year anniversary of IWC, the Il Destriero Scafusia" (in English:The Schaffhausen Warhorse) is presented, which unites 22 highly complex functions (complications).

• IWC brings out the first of a new re-edition of the Portugieser watch. Since then these large and striking watches belong firmly to the collection of the brand and its success models.

• Audemars Piguet introduces the Royal Oak Offshore

• Chopard introduces the Happy Sport with freely-moving diamonds above the dial, a signature ladies watch to this day

• Vendôme acquires the remainder of Piaget from the founding family.

• Patrick Heiniger, son of long-time head André Heiniger, is installed as head of the Rolex Foundation, ousting head of production Michael Waelchli who was the presumed successor.
