Template:File Cal. 2892A2 (often called 2892-A2) is an ultra-thin automatic watch movement produced by ETA. It was introduced in 1999 and remains in production as of 2019.
Overview
The ETA 2892-A2 is the upper-range automatic movement from ETA. It is commonly found in "upscale" Swiss watches, while the older and cheaper 2824-2 is found in lower-end watches. Together with the 2824 and 7750, the 2892A2 is one of three common movements from ETA.
The 2892A2 is an evolution of the 2890 and 2892-2. It is a mechanical movement with automatic winding, ball-bearing rotor, hacking seconds, with power reserve of about 42 hours.
ETA Variants
The current ETA calibre lineup includes the following variants of the base 2892A2 movement. All are 11½ lignes (25.6 mm) in diameter, self-winding, 28,800 vph.
- ETA 2892A2 (1999-present) - 11.5 ligne, 3.6 mm base movement with sweep seconds and quickset date
- ETA 2890A9 (1999-2005) - 5.2 mm height, perpetual calendar with moon phase
- ETA 2891A9 (1999-2005) - 5.2 mm height, perpetual calendar with moon phase and sweep seconds
- ETA 2893-1 (2002-present) - 4.1 mm height, world time disc, quickset date, and sweep seconds
- ETA 2893-2 (2002-present) - 4.1 mm height, dual time zone hand, quickset date, and sweep seconds
- ETA 2893-3 (2002-present) - 4.1 mm height, world time disc and sweep seconds
- ETA 2895-2 (1999-present) - 4.35 mm height, quickset date and sub seconds
- ETA 2896 (2003-present) - 4.85 mm height, quickset big date and sweep seconds
- ETA 2897 (2004-present) - 4.85 mm height, power reserve indicator at 7:00, quickset date, and sweep seconds
The 2892-A2 is the basis for the Omega 1120 and co-axial Omega 2500 calibres which are manufactured specially for Omega.
