• Under the leadership of William Baume, the merger of the company „Baume Frères“ with the Geneva watch maker Paul Mercier, son of a tsarist officer, is performed. In the following years arises the world-famous watch manufacturer Baume & Mercier.

• Georges Schaeren founds the well known watch manufacturer Mido.

• Death of the Audemars Piguet co-founder Jules-Louis Audemars.

• Shokosha Watch Factory, which would become Citizen, is founded.
