Mondia was a Swiss watch brand founded around 1900 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It became part of Movado-Zenith-Mondia in 1969, before being divested to Dixi in the early 1980s.
History
Mondia was founded around 1900 in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
In the 1960s, Monda expanded production and focused on the mass-market segment. This was the attraction for Zenith-Movado, which brought the brand into the Movado-Zenith-Mondia umbrella in late 1969. This was purchased by the Zenith Radio Corp. in 1972 and refocused on quartz watches.
When the group was sold to a consortium lead by Paul Castella in 1978, he incorporated Mondia into his Dixi machine tool company. The brand was soon retired.
