The 289x movements are entirely different from the 2824/2836 line, being derived from the ultra-thin Eterna 1466. There have been three generations of this movement: The original 2890 and 2892 of the 1970's, the updated 2892-2 of the 1980's, and the modern 2892A2, introduced in 1999. Due to its thin profile and proven reliability, many modular movements use this calibre as a base. Notable among these is the ETA 2894-2 chronograph.
