Georges Golay was Managing Director of Audemars Piguet from 1966 until his death in 1987.
Biography
Georges Golay joined Audemars Piguet in 1945. He became Managing Director of the firm in 1966 and lead the brand through the quartz crisis with a dedication to mechanical watches.
Golay is credited with overseeing the launch of numerous important watches, including the 1972 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and 1986 Audemars Piguet Automatic Tourbillon.
He was also a member of the FH and many other boards and associations to promote watchmaking and sport in the Vallée de Joux.
