As the first automatic chronograph movement in 1988 the El Primero by Zenith is built in. It is clocked down for reasons of maintainability from the original 36,000 A/h to 28,800 A/h. In order not to disturb the balance of the dial design, the date function existing in the movement is not used. The movement receives the calibre name Rolex 4030. Since 2000 the in-house-developed manufacture movement Rolex 4130 is used.
From the Daytona Cosmograph exist numerous variants. The best known version, however, is the steel version, which is delivered to the market only in strictly limited numbers. Therefore its scarcity has strongly increased the desirability of the purchase. One hears about long waits of 7 years and more.
