- 1695 — Dutch astronomer Christiaan Huygens dies. He built the first pendulum clocks and pioneered pocket watches.
- 1992 — The acquisition of revived watchmakers Blancpain and Frédéric Piguet by SMH is announced, bringing Jean-Claude Biver to the group. He would lead Omega's resurgence over the next decade.
- 2005 — A. Lange & Söhne releases the Lange 1 Time Zone
