André Ruedin (1902-1947) was a watchmaker and businessman best known as director of the Reconvilier Watch Company, which he inherited from his father, Georges Ruedin-Mathez. He was part of the Ruedin watchmaking family, grandson of the technical director of the Corgémont branch of FHF and brother of watch case maker Georges Ruedin.
André Ruedin was was born in Le Noirmont on February 18, 1902. He did his primary and secondary schooling in Reconvilier, where his father Georges Ruedin-Mathez took over the watch factory a few months after his birth. André attended l'Ecole d'Horlogerie de Neuchâtel, wishing to follow his father and uncles into the watchmaking business. Following school, André traveled abroad and worked as a rhabilleur to learn the trade before returning to Switzerland for more practical training in watchmaking factories.
On February 15, 1926, André Ruedin joined the Reconvilier Watch Company, where he worked in several departments. After the death of his father Georges Ruedin-Mathez in 1935, André and his brother Jean worked together to manage the company. He lived in Le Landeron like his father at this time.
On October 4, 1947, André Ruedin suffered a heart attack and died suddenly. He left a widow and two young sons.
