- Movado produces their first Museum Watch model.
- The Swiss companies G. Leon Breitling SA in Geneva, Heuer-Leonidas SA in Biel and Dubois Dépraz S.A. in Le Lieu collaborate in a secret project with the intent to develop the first chronograph with automatic winding of the world.
- Georges Ketterer trades his shares of SAPIC for control of Vacheron Constantin, leaving the group that also included Jaeger-LeCoultre, which was then renamed SAPHIR.
