- After lying dormant for more than 30 years, Angelus is revived by the Swiss movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret. As premiere model the Angelus U10 Tourbillon Lumière is presented.
- The TAG Heuer Calibre 1887, an automatic chronograph movement from TAG Heuer, is re-branded "Heuer 01".
- Nomos presents with the series "neomatik" a new watch range, which in the "1st edition" includes 10 models, all equipped with the newly developed, ultra-flat automatic manufacture calibre DUW 3001. The known models Tangente, Ludwig and Orion are supplemented by the new models Metro and Minimatik.
- Greubel Forsey wins the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève for the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision in November.
- Jean-Frédéric Dufour is appointed CEO of Rolex on June 17. He had previously been CEO of Zenith, a job he left in 2014 when he was named to the top job at Rolex.
