- 1970 — Apollo 13 astronauts James Lovell, John Swiger, and Fred Haise land in the Pacific Ocean. Their Omega Speedmaster Professional watches played a key role timing the burn that saved the craft.
- 1986 — Japanese companies, including Seiko and Citizen, exhibit at BASEL 86, the first time they are allowed at the prestigious Swiss fair.
- 2013 — The Prix Gaïa awards are given to Andreas Strehler, Ernst Thomke, and Günther Oestmann
