Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet win a Medal of Honor with their “Grande Complication” at the 1889 World Exhibition in Paris.
Constantin Girard, the founder of Girard-Perregaux, won a gold medal at the same world exhibition with his showpiece, the famous Tourbillon watch with three gold bridges.
The Omega company is growing so quickly that with a workforce of 600 employees, 100,000 watches are already manufactured.
The name “Longines” was registered with the Federal Office for Intellectual Property on May 27, 1889.
