The Calatrava, Ref. 3796 is a classic dress watch from Patek Philippe. This was the 1980's incarnation of the classic Ref. 96 Calatrava.

Patek Philippe Ref. 3796 lasted in production from 1982 through 1999. Although the Calatrava family had expanded dramatically by then, this reference was meant to be as close as possible to the original. It retains the classic 31 mm case size as well as the tapered lugs of the original.

Inside, Patek Philippe equipped Ref. 3796 with an updated movement. Cal. 215 still had 18 jewels but now beat at 28,800 A/h and used a Gyromax balance for greater accuracy.

Ref. 3796 was replaced by Ref. 5196 and Ref. 5296 in the late 1990's.
