Gottlieb Vogt-Schild

Gottlieb Vogt-Schild (1879-1964) was a publisher and entrepreneur in Grenchen. He formed the printing company Vogt-Schild AG with Léo-Otto Schild, son of Urs Schild-Rust, and served on the board of Ebauches SA and ASUAG.

Gottlieb Vogt was born on March 27, 1879 in Grenchen, the son of Adolf Gottlieb and Barbara Louise née Schild. He married Johanna Clara Schild in 1905.

Vogt-Schild was a national economist and editor of the Solothurner Tagblatt from 1903.

With Léo-Otto Schild, he founded the newspaper Solothurner Zeitung in 1907 and the printing company Vogt-Schild AG, which he ran from 1904 to 1921.

He was a free-minded Solothurn Cantonal Council (1917 President) and in 1912 was one of the founders of the road construction company Stuag, in 1926.

He was a co-founder of Ebauches SA and served on the board of directors. In 1931 he joined the watch holding company ASUAG

Gottlieb Vogt-Schild died on April 19, 1964 in Hertenstein.
