Girard-Perregaux Laureato USA 98
Perregaux Laureato USA 98 is a wristwatch by Girard-Perregaux.
This elegant and sporty regatta chronograph is a tribute to the America's Cup in 2007. It is available in stainless steel, black titanium or rose gold case. Each of these series is limited to 150 pieces.
The octagonal bezel stands in the tradition of the successful Laureato: a polished base as opposed to satin-finished area above emphasizes depth and structure of this watch. Like the other models of the Laureato USA 98 collection also this limited series is equipped with crown protection and integrated pushers, which follow harmoniously the contours of the 46 mm case. The fine alligator strap acts as a delightful contrast to the rough dial material. The date display is loacated at the 12, the chrono minutes counter runs from the middle.
The watch contains a mechanical movement with automatic winding of the manufacture Girard-Perregaux. The dial has the colors of the team BMW ORACLE Racing and has a display for the last 10 minutes before the start of the race; the slender forms of the boat USA 98 appear engraved on the caseback.
The version in black is equipped with a fly-back function and has a case in titanium with DLC coating. The gray metal titanium is hypoallergenic and extremely resistant to corrosion and strokes, but is lighter than steel. Girard-Perregaux used the quality «Titanium Grade 2». It is more difficult to extract and process, but offers a higher resistance.
DLC means diamond like carbon and is a form of amorphous carbon. This pleasant to touch coating provides properties similar to those of diamond, for example an extreme hardness. It is used in engines of Formula 1 and in many industrial applications, especially where machines are exposed extreme friction. The upper part of the bezel and the pushers adorn themselves with vulcanized rubber.
