Rolex Prince Chronometer certificate, 1935

The Prince was a wristwatch model from Rolex produced between 1928 and 1940.

Launched in 1928, the Prince became well known not only because of its then-unusual rectangular case shape but also for its precision and elegance. With a large subdial for small seconds, it gave a Dual Dial arrangement. it was much easier to read elapsed seconds using the Prince, a feature appealing to doctors, so this type of watch was often referred to as a "Doctor's Watch". The built-in Calibre 877 from Aegler or Alpina Gruen met all expectations in terms of precision, and thus the Prince was the first watch produced in large numbers to receive a Chronometer certificate.
