1845
- With the help of a government loan Ferdinand Adolph Lange starts manufacturing watches with 15 apprentices on 7 December 1845 in Glashütte (Saxonia, Germany) and hereby founds the successful tradition of the Glashütte watch production.
- Experiments carried out in Paris by astronomer Laugier and watchmaker and Winnerl, establish the relationship between a pendulum's suspension spring and the isochronism of its oscillations.
