Société des Fabricants d'Horlogerie de La Chaux-de-Fonds
The Société des Fabricants d'horlogerie de La Chaux-de-Fonds was a Société des Fabricants d'horlogerie based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Established in 1897.
The Society was established on March 5, 1897 to bring together "watch manufacturers, dealers and brokers in watchmaking or supplies and bankers registered in the commercial register of La Chaux-de-Fonds." Prospective members had to apply in writing, be approved by the management committee, and pay an entry fee, and they could lose their membership if they resigned, were no longer listed in the commercial register of the city, or "whose conduct would derogate from the spirit of the statutes." The organization was headquartered at Rue du Doubs 73. The original management committee was composed of Alphonse Braunschweig, president, David Kenel, secretary, Julien Gallet, treasurer, Jules Calame-Colin, Léon-Numa Robert-Brandt, Paul Ditisheim, Lous-Henri Brandt, Louis-Constant Girard-Gallet, Louis Grisel, Hans Ingold, Albert Mosimann, and Louis Rozat.
Julian Gallet resigned as treasurer in November of that year, with Albert Mosimann replacing him. In 1898 Albert Bourquin-Jaccard became secretary, replacing David Kenel. The next year Alphonse Gogler replaced Mosimann as treasurer.
The organization was stable through the turn of the century, though changes in the industry (and aging members) forced a change in 1910. Arnold Bourquin-Vuille became president, Paul Ditisheim took over as vice president, Albert Mosimann became secretary, and Jules Wolf became vice secretary. Alphonse Gogler had continued as treasurer but was replaced in November of that year by Arnold Braunschweig. Management changed again in 1915, with Otto Schild joining as president, Arnold Braunschweig becoming vice-president, Albert Mosimann as secretary, Louis Rosat as vice-secretary, and Charles Delimoges as treasurer.
