• Andreas Huber on 13 October 1856, after he has received a legacy of 3,000 guilders, founds a watch business in the Roeckl house at No. 4 Karlsplatz in Munich with this money. From this in the following years arises the watches house Andreas Huber, which is well-known far beyond Munich.

• Urs Schild and Dr. Girard establish the first watch factory in the canton of Solothurn, ETA Grenchen.
