• For his invention of the automatic wristwatch (Harwood Perpetual) John Harwood receives a patent of the Federal Office for Intellectual Property of the Swiss Confederation at Berne on 1 September 1924.

• In Germany, the ban on imports of Swiss watches is suspended.

• K. Hattori & Co. launches the Seiko wristwatch brand in Japan.

• The first Citizen pocket watch is built in December.
