• Jean-Claude Biver and Jacques Piguet buy the brand name Blancpain from the SSIH for about 18,000 Swiss Francs <ref name="a">Biver interview (www.persoenlich.com, March 2006, state of 30.1.2008)</ref> and about two years later launch newly developed luxury watches with mechanical movements by Frederic Piguet.

• ETA adds the Grenchen movement manufacture along with FHF, EEM, SEFEA, and Durowe.
