Ulysse Perret
Ulysse Perret was a maker of watch springs in Renan and La Chaux-de-Fonds from the 1860s through the 1890s. His operation was taken over by his sons in 1894 as Perret Frères and by his Louis and his sons in 1917.
Ulysse Perret was born in La Sagne.
By February 1864, Ulysse Perret was advertising in Le Jura for apprentices to learn the techniques of watch spring construction at his workshop in Renan. He frequently advertised for workers starting in 1868 and by 1885 was seeking 12 workers for his thriving business. The business was officially recorded in the 1883 survey of businesses.
On July 19, 1886, Ulysse Perret registered a trademark for "U.P." featuring two watch springs, flags, and stars. This registration covered barrel springs for watches and music boxes and precision tools for measurement related to the manufacture of springs.
In January 1894, Ulysse Perret moved his operation from Renan to La Chaux-de-Fonds, located at Rue du Doubs 157.
