Venus 188

The Venus calibres 188, 200, 210 and 211 are chronograph movements produced from 1948 through 1966 and continuing after as the Valjoux 7730.
In contrast to the high-end pillar wheel calibres and rattrapante calibres produced by Venus in the 1950's, these were price-optimized for mass production. Rather than using a pillar wheel mechanism, the 188, 200, 210, and 211 used a cam switching technique that was cheaper to manufacture. After Venus was absorbed into Valjoux in 1966, Calibre 188 was re-branded as the Valjoux 7730. The cam switching mechanism went on to be used in the Valjoux 7750, still in production today and perhaps the most popular chronograph movement of all time.
