- 1943 — Günter Blümlein is born in Nuremberg. He began working at Junghans before joining VDO Automotive to lead IWC and Jaeger-LeCoultre and the resurgence of Swiss watchmaking in the 1980s and 1990s.
- 2019 — The final Baselworld event opens. It would be cancelled in 2020 and re-launched as HourUniverse in 2021.
