- 1881 — Swiss watchmaker Charles Antoine LeCoultre dies
- 1988 — Cartier acquires Piaget and Baume & Mercier, replacing Rolex as the top producer of luxury watches. This would form the basis for the Vendôme group and today's Richemont.
- 2006 — The Prix Gaïa awards are given to Luigi Pippa and John H. Leopold
