- 1693 — English watchmaker John Harrison is born. He was the first to build a successful marine chronometer.
- 1776 — English watchmaker John Harrison dies.
- 1960 — Bulova and Citizen announce a joint marketing pact that pushes Bulova watches in Japan and re-branded low-cost Citizen watches in the United States. Citizen would purchase Bulova in 2008.
- 2005 — Panerai announces that they have exclusive rights to develop watches using the Ferrari name.
