Sonvilier (formerly spelled Sonvillers and Sonvillier) is a small town in the Vallon de Saint-Imier in the Bernese Jura region of Canton Berne. It is located just west of the well-known watchmaking town of Saint-Imier in the Jura Triangle, about half way between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Bienne.
Two of the most lasting contributions to horology from Sonvilier are the Chopard firm, founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, and the Solvil brand, established by Paul Ditisheim in 1918. Although Solvil et Titus moved to La Chaux-de-Fonds and Geneva, the name honors the town, which housed the original factory.
