- 1999 — Historic luxury brands Breguet and Nouvelle Lemania are acquired by Swatch Group
- 2018 — Rumors begin that Chanel has acquired a 20% stake in independent watchmaker Montres Journe SA. Francois-Paul Journe confirmed the report on September 17.
- 2005 — The world premiere of Seiko's Spring Drive watch is held at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. It goes on sale the following day.
