• Louis Brandt, in the young age of only 23 years ago, opens a Comptoir d'établissage in La Chaux-de-Fonds, which later becomes the world-famous watch manufacturer Omega.

• Ferdinand Adolph Lange, in addition to his work in the watch area, is nominated as city mayor of Glashütte and holds this office for 18 years.
