- 1673 — British watchmaker George Graham is born. He is considered to be one of the greatest watchmakers of all time, creating the Graham escapement and cylinder escapement.
- 1933 — The Fabrique d'Horlogerie Rayville S.A. is registered, reorganizing the historic Villeret firm of Blancpain after seven generations of family leadership.
- 1990 — The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie is launched at a press conference in Geneva.
- 2007 — 98 watches stolen from the Girard-Perregaux museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds are discovered under a tree just over the border in France two days after the heist.
