  • Nicolas Rieussec, a French watchmaker, developes a "time recorder" with ink for King Louis Philippe, by which the times of individual horses can be stopped at horse racing. The model Star Nicolas Rieussec Monopusher Chronograph launched by Montblanc in 2008 uses this principle of rotating discs again.
