The calibre 889 was a very popular thin automatic movement, produced for many years and used by many companies, including maker Jaeger-LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin, and IWC. IWC used the 889 as an ebauche for their calibre 3254 and Audemars Piguet paired it with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module as their Cal. 2326. It appeared in many ultra-thin dress watches throughout the 1990's and 2000's and remains in production today in its third revision, the 889/2.

The JLC 889 is closely related to the JLC 899.

The 889 includes a ball bearing central rotor, held in place by a jewel-mounted rocking bar and reduction gear. It operates at 28,800 A/h, 36 jewels, indirect central seconds, Glucydur balance wheel, and Kif shock protection.

Manufacture movement of the top class, used in many watches, including the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Taille or IWC Ingenieur.

Ebauche Variants

Calibre 889/440/2

Jaeger-LeCoultre paired Calibre 889/2 with a perpetual calendar module to create Calibre 889/440/2. The perpetual calendar module was developed by IWC but produced in-house by Jaeger-LeCoultre. This was used in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Perpetual Calendar from 1996 through the introduction of the new Calibre 868 and Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual in 2013.
