- Audemars Piguet already builds the world's first wristwatch with minute repeater and is thus far ahead of time, because the type of the wristwatch will win through only about 20 years later.
- The Dane Bahne Bonniksen, a great admirer of Abraham-Louis Breguet, applies his invention of the carousel in London for a patent. This approach is a robust alternative to the tourbillon construction of Breguet, which also aims for the compensation of the influence of gravity.
