Gaston-Henri Cattin was a watchmaker from Le Noirmont who worked in La Chaux-de-Fonds. He founded Astin in 1926 and Rodams in 1936.

Cattin founded Montres Astin in 1926 but the company entered bankruptcy proceedings in 1931. It continued operating, though Cattin left the firm in favor of Charles Donzé in August of 1936. Astin was taken over by the Schwarz-Etienne family in 1944 and remained in their hands through the 2010s.

Cattin then founded Montres Rodams in November of 1936. It was located at the same address, Rue du Parc 128 in La Chaux-de-Fonds and was in the same business as Astin. The company relocated to Rue des Gentaines 83 in 1956.

Gaston's son Maurice-Louis Cattin-Cattin joined the management of Montres Rodams in 1965. He remained with the company through 1977. Gaston Cattin continued to operate the company until his death in 1978.

Gaston Cattin died on October 31, 1978.
