1772 — Swiss watchmaker and dealer Jean-Francois Bautte is born in Geneva.

2009 — Grand Seiko introduces their first modern Hi-Beat movement, Cal. 9S85, at Baselworld.

2012 — Deepsea Challenger descends 10,908 meters to the bottom of the Challenger Deep with a specially-constructed Rolex Deepsea attached to the robot arm.

2014 — Girard-Perregaux introduces the Tri-Axial Tourbillon at BaselWorld.

2019 — The final Baselworld event closes. It would be cancelled in 2020 and re-launched as HourUniverse in 2021.
