Some members settled in [[La Chaux-de-Fonds]] and founding [[Braunschweig & Hirsch]] and [[Levrette]]. [[Isaac Braunschweig]] was said to be from [[Besançon]] when he founded his own firm, I. Braunschweig & Cie. (mistakenly called J. Braunschweig) in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This became simply I. Braunschweig in [[1889]] before merging with the firm of [[Emmanuel-Daniel Hirsch]] as Braunschweig & Hirsch in [[1890]].

The Brunschwig family came from Haut Rhin, Alsace, France, adopting the Braunschweig spelling there. Some members settled in La Chaux-de-Fonds and founding Braunschweig & Hirsch and Levrette. Isaac Braunschweig was said to be from Besançon when he founded his own firm, I. Braunschweig & Cie. (mistakenly called J. Braunschweig) in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This became simply I.
