In 2012 Citizen purchased movement maker La Joux-Perret, one of the primary alternative suppliers to ETA. Citizen accomplished this by purchasing Prothor Holding which included La Joux-Perret and Arnold & Son for the equivalent of $60.5 million.

In May 2016 Citizen announced that it was acquiring Frederique Constant Holding, parent company of Frederique Constant, Alpina, and De Monaco. The price was not disclosed.
