Citizen Holdings
Citizen Holdings is a watch group of the Japanese global company Citizen, based in Tokyo, Japan.
Citizen Holdings announced that it would purchase rival Bulova for approximately $247 million in October 2007. Bulova was acquired from Loews, a holding company that included financial, tobacco, energy, and hotel assets. The acquisition was expected to close in January 2008. Bulova brands at the time included Bulova, Accutron, Caravelle, and Wittnauer.
In 2012 Citizen purchased movement maker La Joux-Perret, one of the primary alternative suppliers to ETA. Citizen accomplished this by purchasing Prothor Holding which included La Joux-Perret and Arnold & Son for the equivalent of $60.5 million.
In May 2016 Citizen announced that it was acquiring Frederique Constant Holding, parent company of Frederique Constant, Alpina, and De Monaco. The price was not disclosed.
