Template:File Template:File Template:File Big Ingenieur (Ref. 5005, "Grosse Ingenieur" in German) is a larger version of the Ingenieur wristwatch produced by IWC between 2007 and 2011.
Overview
In contrast to the standard model of the Ingenieur, which has a soft-iron inner case, the large version (with 45.4 mm case diameter) features the large IWC caliber 51113 with automatic Pellaton winding system and seven days power reserve. This high-quality manufacture movement can be admired through a sapphire crystal caseback. In addition to the date display, there is also a power reserve indicator.
The stainless steel version launched first in 2007, with the gold and platinum models following in 2008. The steel version features a black dial and either a black alligator strap or steel bracelet, Ref. IW500501 and IW500505, respectively. The heavy platinum and gold references (IW500502 and IW500503) have a silver dial and black or brown alligator strap. All standard Big Ingenieur models feature the Arabic numeral 12 alone on the dial, with other hours marked with lumed bars.
A special edition, IW500508, was issued in 2011 as a tribute to football player, Zinédine Zidane. In addition to a brown dial, it features the sole Arabic numeral 10 in red and "10" in the rotor medallion. 500 examples were produced.
